Toy Fair 2008

Every year the American International Toy Fair has something for kids of all ages. For military history buffs this year was an exceptional good one, and while the 1/6-scale (12-inch) action figures may have retreated from the toy scene, scale vehicles are still on the move. Historical based war games are also continuing to make a comeback, and most notably model kits are making a return in a very big way.

Armchair General had a chance to visit the New York City Javits Center to take in toys that will make even a grown man feel like as happy as a little kid on Christmas morning. Here is a look at the highlights of Toy Fair 2008:

Soldiers in Scale

Unimax Toys Limited is introducing a new line of figures titled the Ages of Action, which are based on the artwork from the Osprey Publishing uniform books. A mini-book from Osprey will even accompany each figure. This Samurai Warrior features the appropriate arms and armor as used during the wars of the 16th century.

This 1/18 scale Knights Templar figure will be available later this spring as part of the Ages of Action series. Each figure will come with appropriate uniform/armor of the era as well as a selection of arms and weapons.
