Third Annual Historic Soldiers Weekend Oct 28-29Armchair General October 23, 2006 | 0 comments | Print | E-mail Historic Burlington, NJ Riverfront Historic Soldiers Weekend is a historical encampment featuring re-enactors and their equipment from every American conflict, spanning from the French and Indian War to the Vietnam War. In some instances, both sides of the conflicts will be present, such as the revolutionary war loyalists and “redcoats”, civil war confederate units, and WWII German infantry units. The re-enactment units will be camping out for the weekend on Historic Burlington City’s riverfront promenade, living as their ancestors did. This extensive display will feature a range of authentic historical items from Revolutionary War muskets to the War of 1812 cook wear, from Civil War troop tents to WWII half-tracks. There will be presentations from famous historical figures, who will tell their story, plenty of weapons demonstrations and examples of military drill and marching styles. Want to actually see what the life of a typical soldier was like, from the Open to the public from 10-5 Saturday, October 28th, and from 10-3 Sunday October, 29th. (Rain or Shine) Admission price is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children under 12. Take the NJ Transit "River Line" down to High Street to avoid parking issues, and receive $1.00 off adult admission price.* Please come down to Historic City of Burlington, peruse our downtown shops, grab a bite to eat and visit the promenade area of the riverfront, where you will find history has come to life for the weekend. No pets please. *Discount with rail pass for same day admission only.
