Colonel Peters is undeniably brilliant, and I own several of his non-fiction books. However, his creation of the "Military Order Blood in Christ" (MOBIC) seems to be sheer political correctness, pandering to trumped-up politically-correct views of the evangelical religious right as fanatics, just as eager as violent Islamic jihadists to kill, rape and plunder or commit acts of terrorism. Well, Col. Peters, I will read the book, but I have admit I am skeptical. After all, these days we aren't much about those Southern Methodist suicide bombers, or Baptist executioners of homosexuals, are we? Islam is doing all the killing these days, a fact which cannot be whitewashed with any amount of wishful thinking or creative writing.

And I bet the real-life National Guard won't be too happy with the way they are portrayed in this book.

I wonder if Peters has read the post-apocalyptic novels of the "Assassin" series by Robert Ferrigno. His take sounds somewhat similar.

I'll read the novel, and report back... looking forward to it.

[...] Afghanistan was also in the news this week, as the top commander there gives his assessment of what we need now to win the war. That decision is still up in the air, but here is an article with some perspectives on that nation. The History of War in Afghanistan on Great History.
