Tankfest 2006!A J Summersgill | August 16, 2006 | 0 comments | Print | E-mail Here are some more pictures of that lovely T34 - a truly magnificent machine. To the left, we see an Su 100 Assault Gun, very smoky. And commencing with the right hand picture, a selection of vehicles from World War II, again, but this time with a non-German slant. This one is a British Valentine in her desert colours. British readers will recognise the chap atop this Sherman M4, it’s Murray Walker, the ex-Formula 1 TV commentator. With mud pouring out of the slats in her sides, a desert-painted Matilda II patrols the arena. I would hate to be the guy cleaning her up afterwards. Now here’s a turn-up for the books. I last saw this vehicle at the Beltring War and Peace show last year (read my report for ACG) and I assumed, wrongly as it turns out, that it was non-functional. How wrong I was, for, despite the fact that it resembles a piece of Swiss cheese, this M3 Grant is operational - well, it drives around, at least. No, the two chaps to the left aren’t having a fight, they appear to be cranking-starting the Panzer III.
