Tankfest 2006!, Page 6

A selection of Cold War era vehicles was to follow, including an M113 APC and a Chieftain Mk10 MBT.

Alas, this particular Chieftain sounded rather the worse for wear as it trundled around, although maybe it was due to an inexperienced driver. In fact, the latter may explain why, having traversed the rise, the Tank slammed down it the other side in an apparently uncontrolled manner making one awful bang.

The vehicle to the left below is a Ferret armoured reconnaissance vehicle, which, it seems, are nearly as plentiful as Jeeps at many of the recent British shows I have attended.

And now some more German hardware – albeit more up to date than many of the pieces running today. Here’s a Leopard 1, which was incredibly loud and a Jagspanzer Kanone Tank Destroyer.

With two Leopard’s running at the same time, the sound was quite deafening – easily the loudest vehicles on the day.

To the right and the two pictures below, a Panzer 61 rolls sedately around the wet track.
