An interesting contrast here poses a Mk I Infantry Tank next to a Challenger I MBT – quite a difference.

Next up, we were treated to a display of Swedish tanks from the Museum’s own collection – starting with this cute vehicle dating from the 1930’s, a Stridsvagon M40.

Larger and later models followed, including a Centurion and an IKV 91.

Continuing the Swedish theme, this is the incredible S Tank. It has no turret, just an incredibly low profile and some rather unique features…

The S Tank’s design emphasis was on defence and crew protection and as you can see from these pictures, the suspension allows the tank to tilt backwards and forwards, making the most of the fixed gun design.
