A Pattern 1871 Third Dragoon Guards (Prince of Wales) other ranks helmet with complete, and correct red and black plume.

A French Heavy Cavalry helmet from the Third Republic. These helmets are of the same pattern as those of the Second Empire, but feature the flaming bomb denoting the Republic. This bomb was later used on steel helmets of the French infantry in World War I.
