On Working for Armchair General

"Hello Seimon, this is Armchair General, and we want you to work for us"

That call was my third ambition about to happen, and one that totally changed my life.

After spending 18 months working in the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, as a film archivist and realizing it wasn’t quite the job for me, that ‘phone call could not have been better timed.

I’ve always been very interested in the history of the Second World War, and over the years I’d collected a number of uniforms, equipment and artefacts. I had worked for the Ministry of Defence for over eleven years, specializing in very high-speed photography.  This gave me an education in very technical photography, and also kept my interest alive in all things military. This job was to give me the opportunity to combine both.

MG 42. This is a friend of mine, Richard Underwood.
He supplied the German uniforms for Band of Brothers
and also supplies ACG photoshoots with German uniforms.

He’s a Great guy!

When I was offered the opportunity to work with the brand new, all-American (well almost) magazine called Armchair General… How could I say no? I was hoping someday to bring out a small-run specialist book. What was being offered to me was the chance to work on a magazine that had 100,000+ bi-monthly copies worldwide! Far better than my third ambition!
