From 1998 to 2006, the symposium established a partnership with the Eric Friedheim Library of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. to co-produce events at the press club for area alumni, club members and the general public.

First established in 1999, the Colby Award recognizes a first work of fiction or nonfiction that has made a significant contribution to the public’s understanding of intelligence operations, military history or international affairs. The award will be presented on behalf of the Symposium by co-founder Carlo D’Este and Colby’s grandson, Elbridge Colby, on April 3, 2008, at Norwich.
