Mustangs and LegendsPaul Glasser | October 08, 2007 | 0 comments | Print | E-mail The Pacific Prowler is an authentic B-25 that flew 25 combat missions for the 5th Air Force against the Japanese. The crew was credited with destroying four ships and two planes. After the war, the Pacific Prowler served as a VIP transport until it was severely damaged in a landing in 1958. It was sold for scrap, but restored by Talismann Aviation. She appeared in 80 feature films, including “Catch 22” and “A Gathering of Eagles.” The Allen County Historical Society was one of many living history groups that also participated in the air show. This group of volunteers from Lima, Ohio, had several vehicles on display, including an M16 half-track and M4A3-E8 Sherman tank. The Sherman was built in 1944 and used as a training vehicle during World War II. It was donated to the historical society in 1957 and was restored in 1987. This example resembles “Thunderbolt,” the personal command vehicle used by Col. Creighton Abram’s of the 4th Armored Division. [continued on next page] Pages: 1 2 3 4 5 6
