This was definitely one of the highlights of the show – a fully restored and operational Jagdpanther in all its glory. Again, I’ve seen one of these at Bovington, but this example was simply stunning – and a true labour of love for its owner who was on hand to talk to the visitors crawling all over it.
Jagdpanther literally means "Hunting Panther", a name coined by Adolf Hitler at the time production of the model commenced in 1944. Based on a modified Panther chassis, the vehicle sported a massive 88mm main gun of the same type as the King Tiger.
A scaffold gantry had been built so guests could view this incredible machine from all angles – including the complete interior and the immaculate gun mechanism.
