Interactive Combat Story: The Calm Before The Storm

The ground around you spits upwards as the machine gunner seeks your position. Without warning, the tank erupts in a great fireball! Smoke pours from a deep scar in the left flank and the hatches open as the crew emerge, choking on the black fumes. The burp of a heavy machine gun splits the air and the crew are cut to ribbons as they climb out of the wreckage, their bodies draped over the hard steel armor. Looking back, you are relieved to see elements of 1st Battalion arrive with fresh men and ammunition! The bazooka team that took out the tank rushes past you to set up another firing point as the heavy machine gun provides covering fire. Grateful for the arriving reinforcements, you fall back for additional munitions.

Over the next hour, the German advance is stifled and finally driven back. You held your position in the face of incredible danger and for that your valor will be recognized. The loss of your two friends, however, is little consolation.
