Heroes of the War on Terrorism Scholarship Golf TournamentCol. Jerry Morelock, Ph.D., Editor in Chief | May 27, 2008 | 0 comments | Print | E-mail
Players at the 2007 Heroes of the War on Terrorism Scholarship Golf Tournament hold copies of the March 2007 issue of Armchair General magazine. ACG supported the tournament with copies of the magazine for tournament participants, and will do so for this year’s tournament as well. Grass-roots support is going strong in Denver, Colorado for those who are in harm’s way and for their spouses and descendents! In 2007, the first Heroes of the War on Terrorism Scholarship Golf Tournament received tremendous support from across the community. The tournament did very well with 80 players, sponsorship from several companies supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) and donations from across the local community and the United States, including Armchair General magazine. Over $4,400 was raised for the scholarship endowment. This put the endowment over 60-percent of its $25,000 initial objective. The scholarships benefit surviving spouses and descendents of service members, federal government employees, and DoD contractors killed in terrorist attacks or in areas of conflict since September 11, 2001. The second annual tournament will be held on July 28, 2008 in Aurora, Colorado. Its goal is to complete the endowment’s initial objective so that the first scholarship is available for the Fall 2008 semester.
