On September 16, 2008, Gen.  David Petraeus turned over control of Multi-National Force-Iraq to his former deputy, General Ray Odierno. The ceremony took place at Al Faw Palace, Camp Victory, Baghdad.

The 55-year-old Petraeus is leaving to assume new duties as the head of U.S. Central Command, which will have him overseeing U.S. efforts in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
