I still go on AoE2 with my friends on line from time to time as it is a brilliant game. We mainly play on the Age of Chivalry mod which has helped keep AoE online alive but I've still never played AoE III.

Age of Empires 3 was a mistake and really a let down for me.

I'm inclined to agree with this. Certainly, AoE2 (Kings/Conquerors) was the best Age of Empires game IMO. AoE3 I was very disappointed with; even the older AoE1 was better.
AoE2 has to be what, 12 or 13 years old now? It's still a big favourite in my family.

I played a lot of AOE 3, I think the game had great replay value with the card system.

Agreed, in fact there were so many elements I liked about AO3, the Explorer for example, and how you could use cards to enhance them, or build up a retinue around them. It was a lot of fun that game, and the map creator and triggers were relatively simple to get to grips with too so you could make your own campaigns, which I did. Real shame they never did a fourth one. I went to reply AOE3 a couple of years ago, but sadly I couldn't get into it again, maybe I'll give it another go sometime.
