Did "Dear Leader" Surrender to the UN Today?
In what has to be a most self centered "I" and "We" speech ever given at the UN by an American President, Dear Leader apologized for our past behavior, criticized our allies and Israel, and praised our enemies for their courage.

The predictions for the global disaster of December 12, 2012 may arrive sooner then you think thanks to the weakness exhibited by Dear Leader in his quest for God like status at today's UN meeting.

Well, I don't know. All I hear is a lot of highfalutin language package into as many platitudes as possible. Oh, and the delegates clapped politely.
No, no raptuous appaluse as far as I can tell. But I'm pretty sure the broadcast news will somehow conjure up an overwhelmingly positive response from the 'world'.

Hard to believe that an American President could deliver a speech like that. The world has sure changed and not for the better.

Hey, what did you expect? President Truman saying, "The buck stops here."?

the US controls the UN, not the other way around. Have you all forgot about the veto?

The other four permanent members of the Security Council have the same measure of control. That is why the UN is essentially powerless when the special interests of the great powers are involved. We are left listening to the rants of despots like Chavez and the two despicable human beings that paraded before us yesterday.

I don't deny that, nor think it is a bad thing actually (god forbid that Chavez or Quaddafi could dictate policy) but I can't see how some fancy words equals surrendering. Action is more important than words and the General Assembly is about as empty of action as any other hot air filled chamber on earth.

President Obama is trying to improve America's severely battered image while pushing a large agenda. That's a pretty tall order. I think he did well appealing to the world in general. However, global leaders are clearly more skeptical about his leadership and plans. President Obama needs more than a smile and kind words. Leaders want to see results. And that is something President Obama lacks right now. Our economy is still a mess. There are plenty of doubts about his solution to it. His health care reform plan hasn't passed. Obama still needs to make a decision on Afghanistan. And his calls for engagement in the Middle East have been met with the cold shoulder from countries like Iran.
I give President Obama credit in the courage department. He has to deal with the mess left by GWB and Clinton. However, I think more leaders want to see what he does with it before embracing his agenda.

It does not require courage to bow, scrape and utter appeasements. It takes more than an expensive suit and empty catch-phrases to make a real leader. But everybody loves a hand puppet.

A lot of international affairs has progressed at a fairly good rate, so he must be doing something right. I don't understand this notion that America has done nothing wrong and our leader must show a sense of arrogance.
