Ben Weider, Bodybuilding Pioneer and Napoleonic Scholar Dies in Montreal
Eric Weider's father Ben has passed away suddenly this weekend. Please take a moment to say a prayer for Eric and his family during the difficult days ahead.
Quote:
|
MONTREAL, Oct 18, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Ben Weider, sports leader, scholar, businessman, and philanthropist, known and honored worldwide for his pioneering work promoting and organizing the sport of bodybuilding and groundbreaking work as a self-taught but hugely influential and popular Napoleonic historian and author, died suddenly Friday in Montreal, city of his birth and lifelong home. He was 85 years old.

Eric... Teri & I express our heartfelt condolence upon learning of this loss. May God hold & console you & each of your family & his friends as the coming days of mourning pass.
It is with great sorrow that a great many in the world - so many that he reached out to, and touched by his love of life & history - will miss his honorable presence, dignified bearing, historical insight, and loving concern for his family & friends found where ever he went through his life.
As is the epitaph of our own departed son - "Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take... Life is measured by the moments that take your breath away" - so too was it that he taught you this in your youth & life since.
God Bless You & Yours, My Friend, Eric!
God Rest His Soul In Peace & Your Hearts!
Wes & Teri

I am very saddened to hear about this. Parents are extremly special, and the loss of a parent is a difficult time, but thankfully we have precious memories of our parents and the love and joy they have given to us, and the great time spent with our loved ones.
Prayers from Denver for the Weider family.
In Christ

Mr. Weider, my family's thoughts and prayers are with your family in this time of sorrow and remembrance. I believe I can speak for many here when I say Thank you to your father Ben for his many years of devoted service in the interests of history. And even more thanks to him for instilling in you a desire to promote history in your publications and this internet forum. May God Bless you all.

My hat is off and deepest respects tendered to his family and friends.
A true gentleman and outstanding businessman, promoter of fitness and scholar.
His accomplishments remain an outstanding example worthy of emulation.
