General Lasalle

Hi all, I'm new here and this is my first post

I'm a huge fanatic about the great General Antoine Charles Louis Lasalle and I'd love to start a thread about him.

I basically know so much about him but I was wondering if any of you know some rare information, have rare quotes, or pictures from books. I've always wondered if any of you have the book "Soldiers and Uniforms of the Napoleonic Wars" by F Hourtouille because I hear there are tons of color plates of Lasalle and if any of you could scan them that would be great!

I'll eventually share bits and pieces of info as the thread goes on but I'll start it off with this:

Lasalle writes to his mother and mistress (Victor Leopold Berthier's wife) from Egypt. These letters were intercepted by Admiral Nelson:
http://napoleonsegypt.blogspot.com/search?q=Lasalle

It's very cool, read both letters.

Some cool pictures:

Oh no, another Lasalle fan! Welcome to the forum.

You should follow Legate's suggestion and vote in the "Best Cavalry Commander of the Napoleonic Era" poll.

Sorry, I'm not aware of any biography of Lasalle in English.

At least, I have more pictures to show.

Does anyone speak French? can someone translate these six pages please?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0543...pt#reader-link

I'd do it with like google translator and just interpret it but I can't copy the texts since it's a picture.

Welcome to the forum!

I think that last pic translates to:

"Any Hussar that is not at least 30 years old, is a .....(stain in the pants,... if you know what I mean?)"
Lasalle

Not quite.

"Any Hussar who is not dead by the time he reaches 30 is a useless layabout!"

In fact, Lasalle lived past 30....just.
