On a WWII Roleplay thread, one of my characters, Panzerschreck, commands an H model, turret number "844."

I've just picked up a number of new books, among them is 'Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. G, H and J 1942-45', Thomas Jentz & Hilary Doyle, Osprey. Jentz has a reputation for being very thorough and methodical in his research, producing works based very heavily if not exclusively on authentic German records. This book is excellent for anyone who wants a good and inexpensive primer on the long-gunned PzKpfw IV models. Recommended, if you can get your hands on a copy.

Yeah...that's my name...

The tank is from a WWII roleplay thread. Oneof my characters commands it...in fact...she's commanding an entire Panzer Army...

And for a size comparison of Achtung Baby's first Pz.Kpfw.IV with the M60A2 beside it:

The picture doesn't apparently doesn't show up; the link is here.

I'm going to stick my neck out and state not only was it one of the most underated and useful of all ww2 but also the best overall tank during ww2. Early in 42 when upgunned with the longer 75 I would even argue it was the most deadly tank one on one.

If I were to pick a select group of tanks as being the best of WW2, I certainly think the PzKpfw IV would be among them. Not sure about 'best overall', though. This topic (best tank of WW2) has been the subject of at least one other thread, IIRC.

In my "Top 5 of WWII", I count the Pz.Kpfw. IV with the T-34, Panther, Sherman, and Tiger.

*Although the Pershing is my fave, I didn't count it in due to its late entry...*
