They were one of only a couple of outfits that could move in
square into battle as it was a very difficult formation for troupes
to care out but they did it superbly after many years of training.

The British did it in the Peninsula with no previous training whatever... moving over several miles of open ground, surrounded by a horde of froggy cavalry.
