What is the love affair with loser tech? Give me the P-47 anyday. Not only can it bust up tanks; it can fight it out with enemy fighters and if shot up can get you home. Honourable mention goes to the IL-2M3.

The P-47 is my favorite US aircraft but I thought we were talking about dedicated ground attack aircraft.

July 1944, when it was first used, and not as a tank weapon, hardly contributed the the allied advance would you agree!
Germany used it before that but launched it using Nebelwerfers.

AFAIK the 23mm cannon did have problems penetrating german tanks, especially in the later years. Hence why they upgraded to 37mm. Which produced a whole slew of other problems.
Apparently the Stuka was a more stable gun platform than the Il-2
