Watch out for Toothrobberers !!!

Here's a fun one !!!
Archeological finds testify that many skulls found on the great battlefields of the 19th century have found many teeth missing ! Some of these teethless skulls have been found at Waterloo and also on many battlefields of the American Civil War ! Contemporary accounts also testify that after battles, plunderers were found during the night to rob the corpses...but not only of stuff like jewelry, money and decorations, but there were also roberrers that took away teeth !!!! But why in the hell would someone want to steel teeth????

Start your guessing again...

By then gold capping was in use, and the plunderers would steal the gold teeth?

Yeah, I remember the show "Regency House Party" where they had an expert on the battle of Waterloo come and give a lecture. He had with him a set of early 19th century dentures made from teeth scavenged from the Waterloo battlefield.

Indeed guys...to make FALSE TEETH or DENTURES !!!
Although the "Waterloo" teeth are famous...it became a worldwide lucrative trade during the American Civil War !!! Millions of teeth from dead Confederate and Union soldiers found their way into Europe during the 1860's !!!
I, for one, wouldn't want to wear them...gross !!!! I don't think my food would taste great anymore if I wore them in my mouth...
Then again...Perhaps it's a good way to go on a diet !!!

Scottish thistles...

Here's another strange fact from my "Historic Strange Brain"...

We all know the purple plant which we call the thistle...the plant is from the family of Asteraceae and is one of the national symbols of Scotland ! It also a Scottish Order of Chivalry, properly known as the Order of the Thistle...
Now, my question to you all is why the thistle has become the national emblem of Scotland ??? Needless to say, it has a funny historic background !!!

This one's easy. Lot's of thistle in this area. Man! You don't want to ever make a mistake and sit down on one. "Thistle" must be an English term, and who was a bigger pain in the !!! for the English then the Scots?

HOw soon can I expect my prize?

When the Norse attacked Scotland, they would raid.
These would often by secretive attacks at night.

Well, one night the Norse landed. They snuck up on a Scottish castle, manor, camp. Then they had the unfortunate experience of stepping into a patch of thistle. Since they are prickly, the sharp sudden pain caused disorder and much shouting. The Scots were surprised, but since the Norse were not to close, they were able to form up and defeat the Norse.

Strange actually, when reading the correct answers in this thread before reading Stratego's verdict (and I don't know yet what Stratego will say here) one almost feels which answers are wrong and which must be the right one...

That's the right answer Murat...legend goes that the Scots grew thistles around their villages in order to scare off the vikings from ever invading their lands !
It's a funny fact, because when we think of the raiding norsemans, we have a picture in our head of these fearless, crazy, yelling warriors with long beards and horns on their helmets swining their axes around like madmen...now picture them walking on those Scottisch thistles !!!
-"Oooch Ivan that hurts, oouch...oouch !!!"
-"Yes Bjorn...oooch...let's go back and invade France or England instead...oouch...at least they don't have thistles around their villages...ooouch !!!"
