Andrew, I take it you have GC II - Dreadlords as well as SEV? Being a hardcore space 4X guy yourself, what can you tell me about these? I've been spending a decent bit of time looking at a few new game purchases, and GC2 is topping the list, but I'm not thrilled with no control over combat...

How did you find SEV as a player that has done III and IV, and is into these types of games? Is it still too much of a clunky game, or will us diehard types enjoy it? (Sometimes if you get over a lousy interface, the game can still be amazing, etc..)

Thanks!

Best,

Shane

Go to:

and read about the new expansion called "Dark Avatar"
It will incorporate a complete new combat system into "GC2"

The functions behind combat are changing, but it's still the same hands off automated combat. The designers have - time and time again - said no to tactical combat.

As fun as it was to have it in MoO2, honestly, it really did slow down the game play. It's hard to keep a natural flow between tactical and strategic scales in something like that.

I have just now started to play SE5. It is very detailed in the setup
and the ship design is almost as involved as the GC2 game. It's very
different in playability between the two. I have not been in any combat
in SE5 yet, Still looking forward to how that part of the game plays out.
