It was taken at Fire Base Mace in November of 1971. Here is another one taken of the medevac crew stationed at Mace at the same time.

First of all, "WELCOME HOME BROTHER"..

I was on Mace a couple of times in '71.. Was a Lurp with the Cav.. I noticed a Cav Patch in one of your images.. What unit was you with, and who was the Medevac Unit? I knew a KIA Chopper Pilot that worked LZ's in that same AO..

Found this picture of FSB Mace on the tall commanche website, looks like the place where Patrick's first photo was taken:

http://www.tallcomanche.org/October_1971.htm

It would be quite a coincidence if you two guys crossed paths on Mace back then and once again today on this forum.

Hi Clay and welcome home brother. Actually I was a gunner when these pictures were taken. I was in the 215th Med and flew Medevac. I am in the second picture as well. I am standing in the middle of the picture with my arm on the 60.

The 215th med was what was left after the 15th med stood down earlier in the year. Our main company area was on Bien hoa and Mace was a forward base for us. We were on the SE corner of Mace right next to the mountain. (I can never get the spelling correct. sounds like "Nuy chow chin", this is not the correct spelling.) If you ever went to sick call on mace you were in my company area.

That Picture you put up Boonierat looks almost like my company area, lol. Wow, what memories this is bringing back.

Wow, I followed the link you provided with the picture. there is a link in the story about January 2, 1972. I went there and read about a battle I was involved in. I was on one of the Medevac birds shot down that day. Got a couple medals for it. This is amazing.

Yes, it's one of the best Vietnam site on the net, dealing in detail with the history of Company C, 2/5 Cav there.
