Identify the Panzer model on p. 14, Nimitz Issue
We received a nice letter from one of our readers about the Panzers pictured on p. 14 of the Jan 2006 issue. If you'd like to take a crack at identifying the model number and possibly the unit (if you are brave!) please follow this link to our Letters to the Editors.
Note that you'll have to be specific because I don't have the "correct" answer, other than the original photograph from the National Archives, which is not very descriptive about what is being shown here.

It is either a PZKPFW 38(T) auf E or auf F. Unfortunately; I can't tell the difference between the two. Based on number produced; it would probably be Auf Es as they were more numerous. Units it can be from are: 8th, 9th, 12th, 19th or 20th Panzer Divisions. No way of knowing which one from the photo.

They had the PzKpfw 35(T) for Barbarossa. At least that is what my resources say.
