You got it!! The Japanese tanks have always been a challenge for me. Here's another, look closely and don't jump to conclusions....

Looks like one of the Panther G's that was in French Army service right after WWII. I think they used one or two battalions of them. Is this picture from the Samur tank museum? When I was there about 14 years ago they had 5 such Panthers in various states of repair.

There has always been a rumor floating around that one or tow of these Panthers made it to Vietnam and fought against the Vietminh. But I've never seen any proof.

I don't think it's the Panther II - that proposed AFV was to be fitted with a Schmallturm turret with a distinctive "Boar's head" gun mantle.

It is panther II according this site.
Quote from it: Two prototypes were ordered, and one with a normal Panther I turret was delivered.

Well, the Patton Museum web site lists that they have a Panther II on exhibit now and this tank is it. But, it's not a full Panther II. The Panther chassis was captured by the US (and apparently is the only one ever made) and shipped to Aberdeen Proving Ground where a Panther G Turret was put on.

Italian P 26/40, used mostly by Germans after Italy had surrendered.
