Can't beat the help the king of battle gives you when you're in a tight spot. Excellent Example: Battle of the Ia Drang Valley. The wall of steel provided by artillery has one and lost many a battle.

You had it right to begin with -- Artillery is the King of Battle -- Infantry is the Queen of Battle and those of us that fall helplessly out of perfectly good airplanes are the "retards" of battle

When you think about it Airborne Infantry is the latest incarnation of light Infantry. A Brief history of light infantry. the 1st light infatry units gained fame by going into battle with no armor and small light weapons. Then there were the light infantry of the Colonial Era with the invention of Gunpowder they didn't have to get close to the enemy so the line between light and heavy infantry blurred then they were just infantry time went on. During WWI the modern idea of light infantry started with the Kaiser's Stormtroopers but sadly between the wars with the increase of mechanized forces the line once again blurred. Then just before WWII in the 1930s Paratroopers were created these would be the carriers of the light infantry idea till the present day. Thus it can be said that Light Infantry men of every day and age have been considered crazy from getting in close with enemy formations to trow rocks and spears at the enemy, to storming enemy trenchs , and to jumping out of planes on top of the enemy all while lightly armed and sometimes armored. The men and now women of the light infantry can rightfully be considered crazy.

I but in countries such as Israel and other nations it seemed right to mention that women serve combat roles in some nations.

I don't think women in combat is a good idea -- think of their situation should they be captured!
