Dang, got a new addiction: War Thunder

Check out my BT-7 tank with custom paint job. It's a standard Soviet WW2 forest camo pattern, but I painted the face of the tank red to make it extra fearsome.

Unlocking new tanks and improving their equipment is just as fun as the actual fighting.

The game has two primary modes: air battles and tank combat. The modes are are separate yet nicely integrated into one neat interface.

Also, there is a hybrid combat that allows you to leave the tank for a few minutes and jump into an airplane to strafe enemy tanks.

However, this hybrid mode allows you to stay in the airplane for only a few minutes. Then you are returned back to your tank. This is presumably to prevent too many players from exiting their armored vehicles and taking to the sky, thus stopping the tank vs. tank battle.

Yes, I love War Thunder. Used to be a World of Tanks guy, tried War Thunder when it first came out, didn't like it but then an Army buddy who is a real Wehrmacht nerd reintroduced it to me and it was much better than before. I love my German and Soviet trees, painfully slogging through my American and Japanese trees. Haven't done the British yet but may start. I play by what the cheapest Bundles are, if they are on sale and which nations have the most low tier Premium bundles. Started with Soviets, then Germans, Americans and Japanese. That way I can use those premium bundles to get a premium account, some golden eagles, and the experience/research boost to move up the tiers. So far the Soviets have proven to be my favorite but I do love my Black Cat. Japanese tanks have great pen guns but paper armor. I'm finally getting into German tanks that have guns that pen heavier tanks and survive a hit or two but with that however comes slower speed like my experience with some Soviet tanks. US and Japanese not so much but I'm only tier 3.

Feels like an AA meeting.....I too was a WoT player, got tired of the stupidity and direction the game was going, left it and tried War Thunder.

Initially, was not very impressed so only played a few games. Seeing some major expansions into other countries and tech, like SPAA, ATGM's and combined launchers has garnered my attention.

Since watching much PhlyDaily videos, I have become much more interested but need to try and understand the economics of the game. Picked up a couple of Premium vehicles, but will await a longer baptism of fire in game before up-tiering myself.

I also found the camouflage, stickers and customization is great! The camouflage can actually help mask you, which I think is pretty cool.

Anyway, gonna give it a try this weekend, with the arrival of a new desktop.

Love the screen shots of the garages by the way.

Played it quite a bit and have upper tier tanks and planes. Unfortunately like any game you get burned out. I never gave them a dime so that grind is no doubt part of the burn out.
