There's a Falklands war pic that shows an RM cradling an early model M16 with the prong flash suppressor that's fitted with an ancient ANPVS2 night vision scope. From what I've read the Argentines had better night vision, ANPVS4 or StarTron.

Don't forget having to hump loads of 75 pounds or more! The Argentinians were in prepared positions and did not have to move to fight the British troops.

They had to hump the loads in bad boots because in another debacle all their helicopters got sunk. If the Argentines had had a bit of ISIS in them they could've shocked the world.

What a load of bunkum! The enemy body count would have been even higher.

Have you checked the times when the battles started?

As for helicopters, there was one Chinook 'Bravo November' which was the only heavy lift type operating in the falklands war. It also served well beyond.

But there were other types of helicopters operating during the campaign.

This Wiki link is pretty good for the British air services during the war.

Plus the Brits also had light tanks such as the Scorpion and Schimitar.

If America had given the Sidewinder AIM 9L to the Argentines instead of Britain Sharky Ward would've become Shark Poop. Brits thought the Argentines were Bongo Bongo land, they learned the hard way, wearing a jaunty Para beret only goes so far. Shorts Blowpipe ain't no General Dynamics Stinger.

Aha! A badly wounded troll, who knows little of what he gripes about. Get yer head kicked in by a hairy-arsed Pom' Para on holiday did we?

Were any Stingers in the inventory then? If the British were offered the Redeye AA Missile instead, I can see them going with the Blowpipe system instead. They were familiar with it and had spare parts. The Argentinians were flying fast and low and most AA manpads would have had trouble catching the target before it was out of range. I always thought it was the Royal Navy that did not have enough SAM launchers on the ships off the Falklands.

The British did lose some Helicopters when the Argentinians hit the Atlantic Conveyor, a total of ten. They were six Westland Wessex, a Westland Lynx and three Chinooks. If this loss made the British have to hoof it, they should have sent more, as that might have lifted one Company plus at a time.

Another weakness for the British was the fact they had no carrier based AWACS.
