Nut? No.

Conspiracy theorist? Yes. You are, by the very literal definition, a conspiracy theorist, because you are supposing a conspiracy exists behind the migrant crisis, pictures of dead boys, gas attacks, and the like.

You cannot suggest a large conspiracy is afoot - by parties unknown, even - and not be a conspiracy theorist.

There could be a huge financial dividend for Japan flowing from this drive towards robotics.

Killing three birds with one stone is how I see it.

Economic growth from potential exports

Helping out with labour whilst population is falling

Maintaining their culture without the need to resort to immigration

They have a lot of foreign workers in Japan, though. North Korea, South Korea, the Philippines and Taiwan send lots of people there. Back when I was a boy the home run champion of Japanese baseball was a half Japanese man named Oh. He was barred from Japanese citizenship because his Father was from Taiwan, his Mother was Japanese. Foreigners are popular in Sumo Wrestling as well.

There have been Koreans living in Japan for a long time despite periodic pograms carried out by the locals.

In your dreams...

They have a potential cut of the electorate at around 20%. They're polling close to that cut-off point at 18% right now.

If, IF, there was going to be some kind of landslide popular break-through for the SD with the electorate, to propel them further (in their dreams of a 50% majority of their own), it would have happened in the rather Extraordinary year of 2015 — immigration-wise. To the palpable consternation of the SD, it completely failed to materialize. And it was supposed to be the Perfect Storm, their Harvest Time, with the Brown Hordes bearing down on the gates of the Home of the Nation.

That brought home to the SD that there are in fact limits to how much of the electorate they might attract. At the time they made some pretty startling pronunciations about how dissatisfied they hade become with representative parliamentary democracy, and how they were now going to channel their efforts into turing the SD into a political grass-roots mass-movement, and move the political struggle to the streets instead, winning that majority there instead...

It's your own country and you don't even check the facts!

The latest poll had SD only a point behind. A poll in August gave them the lead as they topped 27% only last month. How did this possibly get missed from your neutral analysis? They are polling way ahead, around double what the AfD got in Germany, ergo the Swedes are getting increasingly fed up with the immigration strategy and who can blame them? Twice as fed up as the Germans and you two together will go down in history for destabilising the continent like no other during the crisis.

Not that I have been to any of the countries mentioned, but I would have thought that it would be a little difficult to discern the physical difference(s) between a Korean(N or S), Taiwanese, and a Japanese.

Are these extra-territorials allowed any Japanese taxpayer funded entitlements?

I'm not sure that they would be.

And that is the important factor in the immigration debate.

Many want to leave their nation of birth and move to "soft" Western nations because of the welfare/housing/education/medical benefits thrown about with gay abandon to all and sundry.

Funding for these "feel good" projects are seemingly popular with politicians.

However, I don't feel so good when I drive on a road covered with potholes(or note other shortfalls in infrastructure caused by lack of funding as it has been spent elsewhere), or find that the city of Sydney that I used to love living in is becoming ever more unpleasant to visit because of the overcrowding due to the relentless population influx from nations that are not necessarily allied to my way of thinking.

It makes a mockery of my father and his mates who gave their lives defending their country, with the values it had then, to find that these values are no longer "valued".

At least the Japanese are displaying some common sense in this respect.

Not that Japan is "Western" as such, but it is a well ordered, advanced, prosperous First World society.

Such conditions are a magnet for "country shoppers".

To understand why Japan might be considered to be sensible in limiting illegal migration, see this thread just started by "Bwaha".

http://www.armchairgeneral.com/forum...d.php?t=179524

+1 for him.

I just wish the "socialist"(or close enough to it, for those who want to "nit pick") former Australian federal government in power between 2007-'13 had been cognisant of such economic realities.

Doing so would have saved the Australian taxpayer many, many billions of $.

EDIT: As the above link shows the USA is suffering financially from the influx of illegals and it will cost it's citizens dearly.

"The gift that keeps on giving".

Stopping the influx of illegals, and indeed sending back those there who have already entered, can only make financial common sense.

To the "do gooders" who say "let them come" how about shouldering the added financial burdens from illegals themselves, rather than imposing them on ALL taxpayers, many of which resent the imposition.

Is this how a democracy should work?

Japanese look different than other East Asian ethnic groups. The closest I think to Japanese are the Okinawans. I remember one Japanese fellow was dating a woman and his Grandmother examined her hand and fingernails and then told him she was not suitable, she was Okinawan. How she was able to tell is a mystery to me. People from the Philippines are going all over Asia looking for work, Filipinas doing servant work are sometimes enslaved in the Middle East.

Most of the people from Taiwan are recent refugees from the mainland. That means they can look like many of the Chinese ethnic groups.

I have heard that many Japanese have some Ainu blood and that tends to make them seem very hairy to say, a Chinese.

I was raised in Louisiana and I have grown up trying to tell a persons genetic background. I can't claim much expertise, but my Grandmothers seem to have been good at it. There are a number of light skinned Black people that seem whiter than I am! Several of the women I have been around are gorgeous! I could not tell their background until they talked and their Black accent came out.

The Swedish Democrats have indeed increased in strength over the past number of years. However, keep in mind that the one polling group which consistently provides the highest figures for the Swedish Democrats - Norway-based Sentio - is also the one group that has the Swedish Democrats as their client. Other groups - Sifo, Ipsos, Inizio, Novus - have consistently provided lower figures during the same relevant periods. The true tally is likely somewhere in between and Johan is likely not off the mark that the Swedish Democrats current ceiling of support is likely around 20-22.5%. However, this is still about 7-10 points higher than pre-2015, which means that the immigrant crisis of 2015 did indeed have a pronounced impact support-wise for the Swedish Democrats.

Polls are only a rough guide anyway, especially this far out from the election.

My main point really was that the charicature of the immigration loving Swede may have held before 2015 but it is obviously a nation having deep reservations about its open borders stance however one cuts the poll data.

As long as we understand that comics are not to be taken seriously.

And secondly, quality not quantity.

DofD's post leaves a lot to be desired on both counts.
