I've heard the U.S. Navy is going to withdraw the NWU 1 uniform and go with a digital woodland paterns called NWU 3.

The Navy would be better off going back to Blue Bellbottoms for Enlisted Men and Khaki for the Officers. If they want BDU's on a ship they can include a Marine Detachment.

No kidding. Even if they went to fire retardant jeans and a blue work shirt with a "Navy" cut, to replace the traditional dungarees it'd be a big improvement. In a shipboard / industrial environment like the Navy has, this is the proper work uniform.
The BDU uniform is simply idiotic. Sailors aren't deploying to some field for combat. They're working and operating ships at sea. A fire retardant working uniform could wear like iron and increase shipboard safety as well. BDU's are just stupid by comparison.

Maybe include machine stenciling or issue patches to be worn on the work uniform to make it look more professional. A ship's or unit's shoulder tab, maybe a unit patch, along with a proper 'crow' on it would look equal to what civilian companies use for workers making the uniform fit for wear during working hours in public and off base.

Don't Buy the Reports About Russia's Scary E-Weapons
There is no "electronic bomb."

Quote:
A Russian TV news report covered by a UK news tabloid is a classic study in fake news reporting. The Sun article is a hot mess, claiming that Russia can "wipe out" the entire U.S. Navy with a single "electronic bomb." That is not anywhere close to being true. Here's what is.

The Russian TV report is an explainer on Russian Electronic Warfare (REW) troops, which the reporter claims can "neutralize any target" from "a ship's system to a radar to a satellite." This apparently includes synthetic aperture radars on NATO satellites, aircraft, and other platforms, which can form images of targets in the air and on the ground using radar waves. In this case, "neutralizing" doesn't mean blowing something to bits, but rather jamming its radar sensors to effectively render it blind.

Nah, electronic jamming has been part of naval/ground/air warfare for many years, we jam them, they try to jam us..
The vid says the Russki fighters "overflew" the US ship; sure but let them try it in wartime and they won't get anywhere near.
Anyway ships have got guns and the human eyeball can't be jammed as it holds the target in the crosshairs..

As for EMP bombs (Electro-Magnetic Pulse), both sides undoubtedly have them, and although an airburst detonation over a city would probably blow out the electrics in civilian vehicles, fridges, TV's, computers and toasters etc, the sensitive electronic equipment in miltary vehicles/ships/planes is shielded well enough.
PS- ordinary nuke bombs also have an EMP effect, for example the US military once accidentally blew out some electronics in Hawaii when they underestimated the effects of an H-bomb pulse-
WIKI- On July 9, 1962, the Starfish Prime test was detonated at an altitude of 400 kilometres (250 mi). The nuclear warhead detonated 13 minutes and 41 seconds after liftoff by a Thor rocket.
Starfish Prime caused an electromagnetic pulse (EMP), which was far larger than expected....causing electrical damage in Hawaii, about 1,445 kilometres (898 mi) away from the detonation point, knocking out about 300 streetlights, setting off numerous burglar alarms and damaging a telephone company microwave link. The EMP damage to the microwave link shut down telephone calls from Kauai to the other Hawaiian islands"

Below: the Starfish Prime fireball seen through clouds from Honolulu 898 miles away and 250 miles high-

What the U.S. Navy should've done was develop as digital version of the Royal Austrailian Navy's DPN pattern and leave the woodland and desert patterns for shore based units, Seabees and special warfare units.

Seabees don't really need camouflage uniforms either. The solid dark green ones they used to be issued would be fine. They were well designed for the sort of construction work Seabees do.

If I recall the Seebees used to be asked to do construction work under fire (and did so gallantly) and might well be asked to do so again. Are you denying them the requisite protection?

I think a digital version of the naval Disruptive pattern should be considered or a digital multicam for the U.S. Navy shipboard crews.
