Possibly, but I believe Iraq would have had a better chance than they got with zero support once Saddam's opponents rose up.
Sorry but this is twaddle' The entire officer corps were selected for their loyalty, they were from the same religious and tribal allegiances as Saddam's family. To some extent this also applied to the senior NCOs too. One of the chief fears of a dictator like Saddam is an army coup and he worked very hard making sure that he had a loyal army - loyalty was probably more important than competence. As for being able to redirect soldieres who have surrendered - what motivation would they have?

Being on the winning side. Perhaps getting some slices of the pie when it was cut up. Hey, you have to call twaddle when you see it. Perhaps my cataracts are blinding me to the same.

it's just not that simple to 'redirect'/etc
Iraqis fighting Iraqis...you have the different political groups/leaders/etc who want power....
the RG wasn't the only group loyal to Saddam
could be a big quagmire/civil war/etc as we saw in PG2 and after PG2

I think you have it backwards. The Red army soldiers fought harder because they knew the Germans would murder them anyway if they surrendered.

The Germans flat out starved to death the first millions of Red army prisoners they took in the summer of 1941. Only later when Germany needed their labour did Germany bother to feed them.

And using POWs in this manner would have seriously violated the Hague and Geneva Conventions as updated post WW2. As I said a pipe dream on so many levels
