The US has caused all the current problems in the Middle East and the consequent mass migration. Invading Iraq because of Saudi terrorists bombing the Twin Towers? Perhaps Europe should make the US pay for the immigration problem?

Its only a problem because they allow it to be. How hard is it to say "Buzz off, we're full!"? Don't let them in the the first place and deport the ones who sneak by. Problem solved. But no it would be all wailing and gnashing of teeth, needing hearts screaming about the Nazi guilt, racism, islamophobia and all their other favorite self-destructive buzzwords.

Also if you can really only trace the problems of the middle east back to 2001 you've got a LOT history to read up on. Maybe start at the 7th century and work your way up from there.

Saying something is always easy.

Have a look at the immigration issues in your country and say something again.

Most of Europe has signed up to the Geneva Convention. It means that we have to take in refugees.

However, the USA has caused that mess. Therefore they should clean up and pay up.

Is the rest of Europeans really so apprehensive of a re armed Germany?
I'd be curious if there's any data on that.

I wouldn't mind a re-armed democratic Bundesrepublik Deutschland, and a very large majority of the rest of Europe wouldn't mind either.
The mindset of the Germans is nowhere near that of the situation back in the thirties.

Where do you get this stuff from? Germany has a much smaller military than they did during the Cold War and the rest of Europe weren't concerned with it then, so why should they now?

I already did. First, the poster in #8 isn't a European, unless California magically changed location. Second, the poster of #20 was speaking of Germans emulating the Kaiser or Hitler's army and invading surrounding countries. Germany doesn't (and never did) have the capability to do that in the post-1945 world.

Quite correct. Whatever tabloids (and the Socialist Worker ) might pretend, the professional opinion in Europe has long been that Germany really should fund a decent military capability given its wealth and proclaimed role as a key part of the European enterprise. Currently the UK and France completely over-match it, not simply in kit but readiness, training and experience of operations.

There is also a wariness of partnering with Germany on new defence projects, owing to a propensity not to pull weight. This is really upsetting their defense primes and high-tier companies that look to collaborative development

Some seem to be dwelling on wishful thinking.

UK/Germany, Germany has more tanks, no towed arty, more fighters and attack aircraft, more rotatory wing than the UK. The navy is the only place that the UK as more ships. When it comes to quality it seems they are of the same quality.
