Locally we once had a chemical plant called Olin Matheson that produced Chlorine tablets. They shut the plant down after they realized they could buy them from East Asia and still make a profit. A bunch of people lost their jobs. I did a turnaround in a Butyl Rubber plant that Citgo once owned. It was a nasty place to work in. Citgo sold it to a Middle Eastern country and they took it apart and sent it there. Once again people lost their jobs.

If you are asking about countries producing a fighter design from another country you have the Lockheed F 104. It was built in Italy and Canada. Japan assembled a number at Mitsubishi. You also have a bunch of ex-Soviet designs built in China. India has been asking for foreign countries to assemble their designs there for years.

India wants the aircraft built there. A deal with France fell apart several years back over this clause. The Indians have built Soviet designed aircraft in India, but for some reason (?) don't want any of the current designs from there.

Will India ever buy any F-35s when and if they become operational? I remember a few the Indians almost bought the Super Hornet for their air force and maybe their navy.

US allows Bahrain to order 19 F-16V's and upgrades for current fleet to F-16V standard.
At least one source incorrectly quotes a number of 22 F-16's.

Beats buying second hand F/A-18's.

Quote:
Lockheed Martin is closer to securing an extension of F-16 production, following the Pentagon’s notification to Congress of the possible sale of 19 new-build F-16V models to Bahrain. The country also wants to upgrade its existing fleet of 20 F-16C/D Block 40s to the F-16V standard. Lockheed Martin officials have been negotiating the deal since 2015.
Quote:
For its F-16Vs, the Royal Bahraini Air Force (RBAF) will also acquire 20 ITT AN/ALQ-211 Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare System (AIDEWS) pods; 25 Lockheed Martin AN/AAQ-33 Sniper targeting pods; and six UTA Aerospace Systems DB-110 reconnaissance pods. The DB-110s are described as “advanced reconnaissance systems,” meaning that Bahrain could be the first confirmed customer for the multispectral version of this pod.

The sale includes provision for a wide range of weapons, including Raytheon AIM-9X Sidewinder AAMs; Raytheon AIM-120C Advanced Medium-range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs); Raytheon AGM-154 Joint Stand-Off Weapons (JSOWs); Boeing AGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles; Raytheon AGM-88 High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missiles (HARMs); Boeing GBU-38 JDAM GPS-guided “smart” bombs and GBU-54 laser JDAMs; Boeing GBU-39 Small Diameter Bombs; GBU-24 Paveway III and GBU-50 Enhanced Paveway II laser-guided bombs; and BLU-109/111/117 hard target and penetrator bombs.
Quote:
According to a release:

“The Government of Bahrain has requested a possible sale of nineteen (19) F-16V Aircraft; nineteen (19) M61 Vulcan 20mm Gun Systems; twenty-two (22) F-16V F-110-GE-129 Engines (includes 3 spares); twenty-two (22) APG-83 Active Electronically Scanned Array Radars (includes 3 spares); twenty-two (22) Modular Mission Computers (includes 3 spares); twenty-two (22) Embedded Global Navigation Systems/LN260 EGI (includes 3 spares); twenty-two (22) Improved Programmable Display Generators (iPDG) (includes 3 spares); and thirty-eight (38) LAU-129 Launchers. This sale also includes nineteen (19) AN/ALQ-211 AIDEWS Systems, thirty-eight (38) LAU-118A Launchers, forty-two (42) AN/ARC-238 SINCGARS Radio or equivalent, twenty-two (22) AN/APX-126 Advanced Identification Friend or Foe (AIFF) system or equivalent, twenty-two (22) cryptographic appliques, secure communication equipment, spares and repair parts, personnel training and training equipment, simulators, publications and technical documentation, U.S. Government and contractor technical support services, containers, missile support and test equipment, original equipment manufacturer integration and test, U.S. Government and contractor technical support and training services, site survey, design, construction studies/analysis/services, associated operations/maintenance/ training/support facilities, cybersecurity, critical computer resources support, force protection and other related elements of logistics and program support.

Service Life Extension Program USAF F-16

That's what I'd like to see happen:

Quote:
The US Air Force (USAF) is to increase the number of aircraft and additional airframe hours to be included in a planned service-life extension programme (SLEP) of its fleet of Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon combat aircraft.

While the service had previously stated that up to 300 of the service's 1,017 Block 40/42 and 50/52 C- and D-model aircraft would see their airframe hours increased from the current 8,000 hours to 12,000 hours (an increase equivalent to about eight years of operational flying), a notice posted by the service on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website on 12 June says that these numbers are now to grow to 841 aircraft and 13,856 hours.

"The F-16 USAF SLEP intends to extend the aircraft's current structural service life from 8,000 equivalent flight hours (EFH) up to 13,856 EFH by modifying and/or repairing life limiting, fractural critical, and safety of flight critical structure. This effort seeks to award a contract to a vendor who can manufacture and/or procure, assemble, and deliver up to the estimated maximum quantity of 841 F-16 Block 40-52, C/D-Model SLEP modification kits necessary to extend the structural service life of these aircraft, in accordance with Government standards and specifications defined in the Technical Data Package (TDP)," the notice said.
This SLEP would allow for F-16 operations well up to 2048.
