OOC- with permission from Tac I'll introduce my character and provide my vote for a plan of action.

Richard Drake steps forward, two basket hilt broadswords strapped to his broad back and the front piece of a cuirass on as armor. A massive man renowned for his strength and skill with cold steel in the old country, he is now the leader of five other like minded men. His five followers are armed almost the same each with a single basket hilted broadsword and the front piece of a cuirass. Clearly these men preferred cold steel over gunpowder.

"Perhaps we could divide the two forces as talents dictate. My men and I along with the other marines are of no use on this ship unless it comes to a boarding action and that isn't likely to happen. I vote that the marines are disembarked for scouting and possible action if the situation calls for it, while the ship goes out to sea to weather the storm. Would that be agreeable to you my compatriots?"

Do we have to come back and pick you up again? Small attempt at humor...

If you are left on the beach, you had better bring several days rations. The gale may blow us to the Bahamas. The local Indians might not be keen on you being there as well.

is this a safe enough anchorage to stand a blow from the storm? It's not hurricane season.

We might want to just press on to the next salvage point. Tomorrow will start the third day since we attacked the 1st one.

It is about 60 miles between these two sites (20) leagues. I don't see them receiving any real reinforcements but they may soon be alerted overland (we destroyed the vessels we left behind). They will then know we sent scouting parties ahead the last time and be on the look out for them.

Since the weather is iffy we could just just move onto a location with better weather and one that will not be alerted and our scouts will not run the risk of being ashore for days around an alerted encampment.

Again it depends on our anchorage.

We could look for the salvage point (keeping an I on the weather) and attack it immediately (without scouting). If the galleon is there we should see her before she see's us we could then just move on to the next location after moving well out of sight of land.

Where you're at is an inlet between two of the smaller barrier islands. You can last a blow in here, but obviously you don't have radar or any way to tell precisely how strong the blow might be....

I don't recommend it. We should stay in open ocean and ride the storm out. If we run aground we're done. There's no guarantee that if we do make it in to shoal water that we won't drag our anchor and end up aground in any case.
In open ocean the waves are easier to broach and we can run on reduced sail either with the storm or try to tack against it.

Yes I think the marines landed should take at least a few days worth of provisions Pruitt. They're zero help in a storm and would do better to scout while the ship rides the storm out.

We do not need scouts at this location. If the galleon is here we leave if it is not we attack directly from sea with our ship's gun as cover. We woiuld be able to break off at any time if the storm looked threatening.

If there is a galleon ere we move south or just go on to other projects. Our last scouts only served to alert the target. They may have confused the enemy and made them nervous about their flanks but they gave us no info wort the alerting of the enemy.

Since we were able to pick up our scouts last time almost immediately and react to their info quickly it was a slight positive.

Te current situation is VERY risky and is unacceptable if it involves more than 12-24 hours. There is no way we can vouch for that time frame.

look for the net sight and hit it if we can win before the storm sets in (if it even will). If the galleon is present bail and reevaluate. Do not land a shore party. Way to many risks and not enough payback.

We can always jetison guns if we need more speed to run from surprises.
