The War Against the Barbary Pirates

Has anyone read Brian Kilmeade's new book on Jefferson and the Tripolitan War?

I wasn't impressed with his book on Washington's spies and this book seems just a little 'thin.'

I have it inbound so I'll see how it is...

Kilmeade is an entertaining TV/radio host and a pretty smart guy... I dont think of him as a historian.

I thought Max Boot's The Savage Wars of Peace had a very good account of the Naval & Marine operations during the Tripolitan Wars.

There are quite a few excellent histories of the Tripolitan Wars. I wonder what the motivation for writing this one was?

What amateur historian isn't fascinated by Preble's Boys and the Shores of Tripoli?

Kevin,

Have you read this book yet? I have not read it but I came across a review of it and thought you may be interested in it.

Yes, I bought it and read it. It isn't recommended and the review is spot on.
