Action instead of words. Mussolini lands in Tangiers & Alexandria on 10 June, 1940

Instead of wasting the first days in speeches, attacking extremely strong French border positions, bombing Malta, etc,. Mussolini prepares and plans carefully.

He signs a peace treaty with France in late April 1940 and sends most of the trucks, planes, tanks, troops, cannon, etc, to Bardia and Somalia.

He develops torpedo squadrons in early 1940 and deploys them in Bardia, Sardinia and Somalia.

He gathers the ocean liners and dozens of cargo ships and loads them with troops in civilian clothes, crated guns, etc, in early June and sends them to Tangiers, Heraklion, Aden, Valetta and Alexandria.

At dawn, 10 June 1940, the troops from the ocean liners and cargo ships occupy the port facilities while torpedo bombers and divers attack RN ships. Italian warships approach later in the day to provide artillery support. Also at dawn an Italian column advances at full speed into Egypt with heavy air support. Also at dawn planes transporting troops land in a RAF airfield between Alexandria and Libya and capture it, so more troops can land there and fuel, etc, can be flown in to speed up the advance of the column from Bardia.
The landing troops capture an airfield in Alexandria, Malta, Aden and Crete, so Italian planes can land and support the invasion.

Italian planes torpedo RN ship in Gibraltar and land in Tangiers. The Italian population aids in the occupation of Tangiers.

Italian subs are positioned near the ports being attacked an attack the RN ships that they encounter.

Just a note at this point on this idiocy:

I think the 2nd Moroccan Infantry division and 25th Light infantry regiment in Tangers would have something to say about the Italians doing anything there, as would the French Air Force having a squadron of fighters present and likely shooting the Italians down.

But, just that Tangiers is a French port and the French aren't going to let a bunch of ocean liners and transports just show up out of nowhere and dock... It is likely the ruse is a major fail in any case.

Same goes for Alexandrea. The British would board any Italian ship and search it for "war goods" the second it tried to enter the harbor.

OTL Spanish forces entered undefended Tangiers on June 14.

In this scenario the Italians take undefended Tangiers on June 10.

That's because it is was made an "International" city under the control of France, Spain, and Britain in 1928. In WW 2 Spain was given control. If the Italians invade they would find the French army in Morocco (who controls the airfields that are outside Tangiers) of 2 Moroccan infantry divisions, 2 cavalry regiments, a tank brigade with D1 tanks, and a separate infantry regiment are going to crush the Italian invasion.
It is likely that Spain would have something to say about such a move as it puts them in a cross with France and Britain.

Franco would say a lot and do nothing, as he knows that Italian planes and ships can kick his butt in a day. He has no food, fuel, etc, and he is in power only thanks to Hitler and Mussolini.

France is agonizing and is certainly not going to start a war with Italy about international territory and risk losing Corsica, access to the Med (with Italy in Tangiers), part of the fleet to torpedo planes, subs, etc,

Franco did not warn France about his occupation of Tangiers and France did nothing. When You're losing your head, You don't worry about your nails.

By the time the WM enters Paris on June 14, the Italians control Tangiers, Crete, Malta, Aden and Alexandria (troops from Libya have joined with those debarking) and are rapidly advancing in the Sudan. RAF and the RN have been decimated in Egypt and Gibraltar.

Mussolini requests LW and U-boat assistance against the British counter attack in Tangiers. Hitler knows that the allies are defeated in the Continent and decides to help Mussolini to secure the Med. He sends immediately 6 U-boats and 24 each Bf 110, He 111 and Ju 88 and gradually reinforces them with more of the same planes and Stukas and Bf 109 which refuel in Spain.

With the axis controlling access to the Med in Tangiers, Alexandria, Somalia, Crete and Aden (the RN is excluded from the Med), Spain, France, Greece, Arabia and Turkey join the axis (in order to retain trade and access to the Med and to avoid invasion) and Japan attacks trounced Britain (the isolated RN in the Med having been eliminated and any RN ships having to go around S Africa to the far E) in Sept 1940. Japan promptly captures British Borneo (securing abundant oil) and Malaya-Singapore, wipes out the far E RN fleet and a month later invades Ceylon, Cocos, HK & Mauritius and links up with the axis in Somalia and Iran (Japan does not attack the DEI nor invade Burma initially).

Instead of wasting planes over Britain (which has lost a large part of the Empire) and keeping the huge, costly WM inactive, Hitler rapidly invades Sweden, Croatia (with Italy) and Slovenia (thus forcing Serbia into the axis) and Switzerland (with Italy, which keeps the Italian speaking region and from Alsace, etc,) and together with Turkey expels the British from Iraq, Cyprus, Palestine, Jordan and Iran in August-Sept 1940.

By capturing Ceylon and Mauritius, Japan isolates China from the rest of the world

The axis had formidable population, industry, oil, chromium, aluminum, coal, rubber, tin, etc, in Dic 1940 and is well connected.

On 30 Nov, 1940 Japan invades Sumatra & Dutch Borneo in 3 weeks and reaches a peace agreement with the Netherlands, which keep the rest of the DEI.

Japan then attacks RAF in India and provides weapons and advice to separatist Indians and Burmese and defeats the isolated Chiang in the fisrt 1/2 of 1941.

India and Burma declare their independence in April 1941.

Having lost much of the RN and the Empire and ME oil and facing an extremely powerful axis Britain sues for peace, regains access to the Med, Australia and NZ and trades vigorously with the axis, selling trucks, cargo ships, etc, and buying rubber, oil, iron ore, etc,
