There are no mountains in the trailers just the kind of rolling hills that surround Boston. I live on the crest of one of those hills looking down into the city of Boston.

Having checked out the youtube stuff/wikia, Fallout 3 is a very good but not great game (has some flaws). There are brilliant things scattered about.

New Vegas is a decent game but not as good as the previous one.

Fallout 3: 4.5/5

New Vegas: 3.5/5

The Fallout 3 Point lookout and "The Pitt" DLCs are standout.

Point Lookout: 5/5

New Vegas was a better game, if you'd never played FO3. It had more content and gameplay (and less glaring plot holes).

But personally, I just enjoyed FO3 far more. That was an amazing experience.

^^I haven't played either but I have pretty much seen all the highlights.

It looks like New Vegas has more side quests and better mechanics. However, most of this stuff looks kind of boring. I definitely don't get how New Vegas core story would be considered better- I think it falls flat compared to Fallout 3. The voice acting and characters in Fallout 3 are much more memorable to me.

Fallout 3 has really good map design, and a creepy/depressing post-nuclear atmosphere. Washington DC is the highlight.

New Vegas is more post-apocalyptic. I don't like the design for New Vegas but I like the western- style towns.

Both games kind of suffer from being last generation tech- the graphics are old school.

Nonsense. Both are epic games, redefining the sandbox experience entirely.

I agree.

The graphics are just fine. It's not fair to compare current games to past based on graphics.

Completely agree about NV from a gameplay point of view. Everything was improved, better weapons, gunsight, etc.....

But FO3 introduced us to the next type of Fallout game, and did so brilliantly, and with great respect to the Fallout universe.

Both games are masterpieces.

Not to mention that the graphics were intentionally meant to convey a depressing atmosphere. That is one thing I missed in FNV: F3 was unrelentingly grim, a true post-apoc feel. FNV was much cleaner and brighter.

I certainly enjoyed both, but for me, those first ten minutes outside the vault in FO3 were amazing. Nothing in FNV came close, sadly.

For those of you who have seen the Bethesda presentation, how's this for a prediction:

Your character turns out to be a synth during the game.

And I probably spent a good ten minutes just looking around when you first exit.

The Mall is another shining gem of FO3.

I preffer the FO3 world over NV but NV had a better story. 4 looks like it may have both. Or at least that is the impression.

And of course NV as better features and game play. The Devs had the advantage of being second so knowing what was needed. And they could copy Mods.

Technically the settlement building was a mod for skyrim and latter NVs. Of course the devs can do it better.
