I bought myself CMANO a few weeks ago and notice that vessels won't automatically turn to defend themselves against incoming anti-ship missiles by opening their gun and missile arcs even though they've got plenty of time to turn.
For example when missiles are detected at 13 nm range coming in headon at 600 kts against my Nanuchka I, the Nan engages with its Geckos as the range lessens, but won't turn to also bring its rear-mounted 57mm gun to bear, even though it's got plenty of time to turn. (2 minutes til the missiles arrive)
Likewise enemy vessels don't turn either.
Is it a game design oversight or a bug or glitch, or is it just me ?

If the inability of the AI to turn ships so that they can adequately defend themselves is a design limitation for MNO. All weapons are considered able to fire in a 360 degree arc at any target over 5nm. That is deliberate because of exactly the reason you outline. The AI is simply not smart enough to find a way to turn units so that the best weapons are brought to bear on incoming threats. So, instead of making the AI smarter, they go with this lame short-cut solution.

Of course, this means that the weapons with ranges < 5nm are virtually useless in the hands of the AI. In short, only fools grant the AI control of anything in MNO. If you want any hope of victory, you micro-manage each and every unit. It is the only way to prevent the AI from doing something totally idiotic. Even if you try to micro-manage every unit, there will still be instances when the AI attempts to seize control of your units and do something stupid. Users must keep a close watch on the AI at all times. The AI is not your friend.

If you purchased the game via Steam, think long and hard about getting a refund before your grace period of 2 weeks (or 2 hours of game play) expire.

Well guys I'm sorry but I have to say I don't like CMANO because ships won't automatically turn to bring their guns to bear on incoming missiles, even though they have ample time to do so.
I can only suggest that a programming re-write be done to enable ships to engage with their guns "abstractedly" without having to actually turn to bring them to bear..
