There are lots of bugs remaining and many of them are pretty huge, IMHO. The developers don't want to hear it from me so I don't bother telling them. Instead, I tell every one of my opponents as well as AAR viewers in every video we make.

I've found the developers highly responsive to input from the community. I can't count the number of patches, updates, and bug fixes they've issued since the game was released.

Certainly they're in the top five percent of developers who invest major time and energy in supporting their product long after it was released - and all in their spare time! They've got real day jobs. The development is because they love wargaming.

You guys rock! Keep it up!

The question is, on an absolute scale, how was the game before and after those patches?

Did it go from very broken to pretty broken?

Why did they have so many issues discovered after release?

The patches added as many problems as they solved. One patch pretty much had all units under the Hold command refuse to engage the enemy until it was too late.

The patches do fix bugs, but the other untested/poorly implemented new changes pretty much negate the increased function due to the numerous problems they introduce.

Another example is the artillery. In v2.02, the artillery was lethal. Then it was neutered in 2.03. It swung back to very effective in 2.04. Currently, it is pretty anemic and inconsequential. Maybe it will swing back to something useful by the time 2.09 comes out, but I'm not holding my breath.

They have so many bugs reported after release because they refuse to ask the hard questions and conduct the deep testing prior to release. So long as they pander to fanbois who cannot and will not help them find problems, the pattern of problematic patches will persist.

They should really start from an assumption about what damage artillery does and then adjust the code until it matches (hopefully in automated testing).

Randomly tinkering with the code to make it "physically correct" and then re-interpreting whatever the game outcome is as what reality must be like is not a winning strategy.
