Colorized Civil War photographs

Hey there. I'm Zuzah, I colorize photographs, and I do take requests - feel free to P.M. me, if you'd like a private family photograph colorized as part of a comission, I can do this too - I'll try to post an image a day, but sometimes I might be busy, sometimes I might not feel like colorizing, and other times I might simply forget. Semperpietas has my blessing to post whichever photographs he feels should be in this thread, I'll mostly post the more detailed photographs.

Edwin Vose Sumner & Staff (Including his son directly to the right of Sumner):

General Ulysses S. Grant wearing his 4-star shoulder board sometime before ascending to the presidency:

Incase you'd like to, I sell prints over @ http://images.historyinfullcolor.com/colorizedhistory if you'd want one; I hope this doesn't count as blatant advertising or something of the sort.

Hope you enjoy!

If any of you are interested, I am not close to being the best photo colorizer out there, there are people as good as me, and I have a lot of my good friends contributing to my Reddit community over @ Reddit.com/r/ColorizedHistory, how do you feel about seeing their work in constrast to mine aswell?

For instance, Photojacker's version of David McMurtrie Gregg & Staff:

Yes, yes, yes to all of it!

And the use of the "Spoiler" option is the best way to go. It doesn't distort the entire page.

to your photos already posted and the ones to come. They really do bring a new dimension to the ACW.

I'm glad people continue to enjoy them, I'm going to make great use of the 'spoiler' tag in the future.

Good work once again on these. Looks like Christopher Columbus will be out a job now . Thanks for putting the pics in spoilers-much better now.

So you sell prints eh? Who knows, maybe I'll be getting one or two for my college dorm room next year or sometime after that! I think a couple of these would look great on the walls.

Thank you man, I'm glad I discovered it, the other thing was a mess.

Yeah, I sell most sizes, of course some images are done in lower resolution, so they'd not be available in as-high resolution, but nonetheless... What're you planning on studying?

No problem, and that's cool. Probably "Great Books" but if not that, then history.

I actually got to sit in on a class all about the Civil War (and reconstruction)-that class period was dedicated to Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Chicamagua, and Chattanooga, and we actually got to see the strategic and more tactical situations for battles and such. It was really awesome, and I learned a fair deal about the importance, timeline, generals, etc. of those battles.

Now I know where the term "hooker" comes from

I do admit the portrait upgrades are very good, but I find the field shots to be more interesting. So here a some that I think would be very interesting to see in color.

I was considering studying history, possibly going for a bachelors in it, but I'm going to be starting school for graphical design in August, so we'll see where that leads me, and if it'll help me improve with what I'm doing so far.

But I'd love to study the Civil War in-depth, and history in general - everything about it fascinates me greatly.

I enjoy seeing your work.
Well, that is what war is, blood, guts, armless or legless bodies everywhere. It needs to be or otherwise people start getting these romantic ideas of crisp uniforms and decorations, massed parades.
If you want a good income, forget history. For the few, they become college professors and write a few books. Especially here in Danmark. I would suggest studying history in your spare time. They (Danmark) seem to be more fascinated with WWII then anything else. But I am in the Copenhagen area, so maybe were you are it is different.
Graphic design....... good luck. If you are talking about computers, avoid the web design stuff because I understand there is not much future in it. Too much do it yourself web design stuff. But just a suggestion from an old computer guru.

Well, you don't necessarily need a large income to make yourself happy!

There are a number of DIY webpage design websites where you can buy your domain (or even just have one that's something like [your url].[name of DIY site].com), so you don't technically need a webpage designer or anything. However I don't think these are very popular, at least in the business world, and probably don't offer nearly as many options as working with a page designer would.

I've not been colorizing lately, I've just been doing other things and I haven't had the time or felt the need to colorize - Soon, though, don't worry.

I've found someone to design my website, and I've bought both ColorizedHistory.com and Colorized-History.com, and the guy is designing it in a quite minimalistic and cheap design, a well spoken Canadian gentleman around the same age as me - I'll keep everyone updated.

Yeah I get what you're saying, but I'm sure you're right about the WWII stuff, I mean we were besieged early on in the war which didn't let up until later on, so a lot of grandparents stil have memories, and kids and grandkids will have been told stories of the conflict. I remember talking to my late grandmother about her experiences during the war, she was around 16 when it started, as was my grandfather, and she told me how viciously the German forces controlled curfews and regulations. Scary stuff man.

I'm definitely planning on publishing a book or two with colorized photographs detailing the stories of the wars, WWII, WWI, the Civil War, even the Crimean and the Spanish-American wars if I'm able to.
