I keep tanks for fun as well. I have a T-28 and KV-2 because they're fun to play, but I'm a serious clan so I play competitively too.

Indeed. Any competent scout carries them. Without one you won't be around for long.

A) You'd be surprised at the number who don't. These are normally the ones who "Press W for scout medal" and do no good for the team. Also you loose momentum, and while you will be moving again, you won't be going as fast, and so the lead time and thus the chance to hit is greatly improved.

2) Just blow their tracks off a second time!

3) Ram the buggers. (Once managed to head on a T-50-2 while we where both doing 60Kph. My medium drove away afterwords, he didn't).

T-50's are not an issue to me, as I'm one of the elite on the EU server who drives a Chaffee. Its great fun as you drive along behind the T-50 with your dispersion circle less than the width of his tracks slamming rounds into him.

I am never one of those suicide scouts. I scout the edges, help out lone team mates, and look for ran opening. I usually end the game with a kill sometimes 3.

The KV-1S is an AWFUL tank. I wanted it so bad, and I found out its worse than my KV-1. I had more success, and more fun, with the original KV-1.

Anything my tier or higher can one-shot me, every first shot I take always damages my tracks. Any tier less than mine is usually too fast for me. My armor is paper-thin, and my gun (currently the D-5T 85mm) can't hurt anything at all most times.

I hope the IS is worth it, because I'm earning that bastard.

If the IS is what I remember I think that you will like it!

Though watch your bottom and front lower plate.

It has good speed and a pretty good gun.

The biggest trick for me right now is trying to stay alive long enough to really rack up the experience. It's hit or miss.

KV-1s was my first Good tank.

The 85mm is crap, strap a 122mm on there fast.
The Tank has got speed and enough armour, so you should be supporting attacks rather than leading them. Sit at the back and snipe. If need be, you have the speed to re-locate to the other flank.

The IS line are great tanks and worth the pain of grinding the KV lines to get to them imo.

I did have the short 122 for a while, but the reload wasn't acceptable for its lack of accuracy and penetration.

I try to support, and do as much as I can instead of leading. Problem is, I take a shot, get nailed from another direction, can't move because they ALWAYS take out my tracks, and then get blown up with the next shot.

Don't concern yourself with kills, a scouts job is to keep lights on enemy tanks where there are no lights. If they're lit it means they're taking fire from your allies while they take non in return.

The KV-1S is an amazing tank, you're just doing it wrong. You don't pub with a KV-1S, you play TCs with it and TC with it alone. It's useless until you get the long 122.

Sniping with it takes some serious skill. The 122 is not an accurate gun, so being a sniper is difficult. The KV-1S is more of a brawler. The best way to use a KV-1S is to wolfpack them with VKs and or other mediums. 2 shots from a 122 will destroy pretty much any tank in Med TCs. So if you have 4 plus 2 meds or so, you can destroy 2 enemy tanks within seconds, have your meds deal dps while the 1S' reload, then destroy another 2. It's all about moving fast and focusing fire. While the KV-3 was still around my clan ran this and destroyed 5 of them within 30 seconds, then moved on to their 3 meds and dealt with them in 5.
