Some parts of the world, such as Japan and Korea, are seeing the coldest winter for a long time, complete with record breaking snowfalls. Others seem to be seeing unseasonably warm weather.

I'm with GG - how can you possibly draw any conclusions that the Earth is warming due to human activities from such weather?

We are contributing a slight warming bias to a natural cycle. Plus... All of the proposed greentard and Enviromarxist solutions are worse than the problem.

A question.

If your ideological opponents are Enviromarxists (and your position is ideologically-driven), does that make you an Envirofascist?

That sounds right.

I wasn't actually trying to accurately define you ideologically and give you a suitable label. Just to draw your attention to the inappropriateness of attaching derogatory labels to scientists holding to conclusions contradictory to your own.

You wouldn't use such terms in a conference/seminar/workshop, would you?

Glad we got some extra water last year. It might make a small dent against the drought we had for most of the previous decade.

Oil industry is well known to be fair and balanced, and open to debate ... . And they never been in the politic field, and never get involved in any political intervention and struggle .

Then we are back to the cental question : anthropic or not ? But also the full oil model for all the planet is sustainable in the duration ?

So i guess we need to invest in alternative research and think about new model of growth and experiment different solutions to be free in the futur.

About politic : Doc, you need to know that marxists and communists and maybe all the others are against the green. The green don't want consumtion at will and waste of resource. All the others just want consume, credit and debt (public or private) and growth, growth, growth, material growth !.
Some greens are stupid and "extremist" ? well as in any other political group !

The trouble with that is that Greens need their consumption, their cellphones and computers drawing power, their lights, heat and vehicle transportation just as much as the rest of us.

Yes it's true, but the debate remains. And it's not to full stop and come back. it's just to make the choices that we want. Do you need so much light in the streets and in the front of supermarket ? In france it's "christmas lights" all the day all the year. Japan did it : they had no choice. We could do some things better. As for chemicals...
In some village in france, they cut all the public and commercial light they could, so the citizen pay a lesser price.

I wish that they would do something like that here. We now even have those terribly bright Big Screen billboard signs on the highway out in front of our subdivision. It would be so lovely to look up at the sky and see the Milky Way. There is so much light pollution here that you can hardly see the Big Dipper and the North Star anymore.

Last summer on a cook out down on the farm after dark we were able to show the grandsons the Milky Way. They had never seen it before! How sad.

By the way, this has nothing to do with global warming, just excess. We could get along without 3/4 of the nightlights and be just fine.

We could turn off many of the night lights, but could we really do without them? Would you feel safe on the streets without streetlights? Would stores be safe at night with inside security lighting"?

Of course, we DO NOT need night time sports events, which require huge amounts of lighting.

Certainly we could go back to the old days and shut everything down at 6 PM, which would save a lot of electricity. No one actually needs to go out at night to shop or for any other purpose. We could all stay home and spend some time with or families.

We don't need illuminated advertising everywhere, so all of that can be shut off for good. No lit up theater marquees, because we already know what is playing and where the theater is.

No more floodlights on national monuments or on Federal and State buildings, either. We can see them clearly in daylight, and they are closed at night.

No more brilliant lighting inside gigantic factory buildings that are totally automated - robots don't need to see.

No need to light up car sales lots - nobody needs to shop at night.

With the oil we save we can construct gigantic plastic trash bags, which we can use to bag up all the Greenies and drop them in the Mariannas Trench.

John we usually have great discussions and they are always civil!

But on this post I have to disagree.
I removed your name from the originally posted tags as I am using your post as my bully pulpit for a moment... You have summed up so many others arguements in one place so well, that this is not aimed at you specifically but everybody generally.

Quote:
His portfolio isn't preforming as well as he would like.

Do you have an agenda...yes....
Do I have an agenda...absolutely...
Big Oil...of course...
The Green energy crowd...You bet...
Everybody has an agenda......However most people do not advertise or disclose it.

Doc has an agenda...Sure... But to his credit, he has disclosed it in his many posts.

Quote:
Mid Jan here and still no snow. Doc you really need to do something with those screws, they need some torque applied. You can go with all your data and graphs I'll go with what I see and hear from people that live in the areas that you CLAIM are not effected.
My highlighting

The slice of the Earth that they call home may be their whole world. But is still only a tiny sliver of the planet as a whole... And we are discussing global, not regional warming.

It is my interpretation is that the articles and graphs he posts make these claims; he just uses them to continue making his point.

Quote:
PLEASE, please spare us an other graph. Don't you realize they have become a running joke within ACG? duh!
My highlighting

Isn't that a bit harsh.... The fact that Doc has a stance on the issue is no different from everybody else. The fact that he brings so much info to the table however is different from most everybody else.

I find that most of the time those with whom differing ideas, facts, data or theories no matter what they are; or whose point they are trying to make; is a running joke....
Are generally the same folks who do not, can not, or will not agree with anothers position no matter how much info they bring to the discussion. Our emotions and pre-conceived notions do die hard.

While I could be wrong, but as far as I know Doc has never actually stated that there was no global warming...Just that it was:

A. Not significantly effected by human activity.
B. That it is not nearly as serious an issue as the Eco/En Viromentalist, Green energy crowd would have us believe.
C. A historically recurring issue of the Earth.

Cheers,
Deter
