No, not yet. I go home on R&R next week, hope everything goes all right.

We have the "Big Voice" on the Embassy that will tell us when and what to do. If it ever does I expect a lot of brown pants to be on display by the Department of State employees.

Let us remember our veterans and what kind of scum they were fighting against in order to give the Iraqis their freedom.

One of the museum's displays just recently updated.

On my way back from R&R I met an American grunt stationed in Kuwait who is assigned to the QRF to come to the Iraq Embassy just in case. I wished him the best but said that I hoped that I never saw him again. Sure miss those dudes in digital green.

Would you believe July, 2009? Dang it, when I get done with one project another comes along. Right now I'm looking at August of this year. 5 summers in Iraq is a punishment greater than purgatory.

You and I are never going to agree on this. The wars that we won, we stayed as long as it took. We are still in Germany, Korea, and Japan.

The wars we lost we left.

LOL, yeah, I knew that while I was in the military. Except for sports, go out for all the teams you can since if you end up winning you get to play rather than work.

As to the Admiral's post, I went to FOB Delta in Wasit Province in 2008. They had the entrance greeting with paintings of all the flags of the countries there. I couldn't believe there were that many until I went to the DFAC, then I never knew that "camoflauged" uniforms could be so different in perspective.

AMEN to that brother!!!!! I only planned on 1 maybe 2 years....and ended up there for 4...
Everyday we would get the official temperature readings by e-mail every 2 hours starting from 1000hrs to 1600hrs. I still remember the e-mail from summer of 2010 in Kirkuk (FOB Warrior) where the offical temperature at 1400hrs was 150 !!!!! 4 summers was enough for me. Luckily for me the first 2 were up in Mosul where it was a bit cooler.

Cheers,
Deter

It pleases me too that they were enlisted, but the whole idea of enlistment bonuses bothers me. I beleive George W. and Cheney were thinking more of profiteering. I love our veterans and their sacrifice, but as usual, what were the politicians really up to?

I know that enlistment bonuses have been around since at least 1970 when I was in. If you reenlist while you're in a designated combat zone there is no Federal tax on it. In a different manner companies give bonuses for extraordinary efforts or for people with hard to obtain skills.

What are the politicians up to? The usual stuff, covering their backsides.
