Sorry, but I don't know the guy. I just happen to like "Sons of Guns". The quad mount build was somewhat relevant to this thread, and it's available online if anyone want to check it out.  |

MG-42 versus M-1919A6??
Since Beng's a recruit, I wonder if he meant to query any preference for the M-1919A6 over the MG42? Both were standard machineguns in Infantry companies of WWII, but why limit himself to the MG42. IIRC, the MG34 was also in wide use as a squad automatic weapon. Except that within the U.S. forces, the BAR was at squad level, and M-1919A6s were found within the weapons platoon.
Compared to either, the German MGs were the superior weapon. But Wars are not decided by a single superior small arm. German firepower at the squad level was impacted by their antiquated bolt action Mauser rifles.

Agreed - if you are in the nose of a B-17, or sprinting across a field in Ukraine, you'd want different ordnance.
