also called Kokoda: 39th Battalion
correct, Europe
(to explain the clue the 'regular' Australian forces called the newly raised 'militia' battalions sent to fight the Japanese Chocolate soldiers ,chockos, because they'd melt easily in the 'heat' of battle--- they didn't).

Different clue perhaps - Homer can write his name but at the end of the day he is in Wilma's hands.

I cannot even begin to fathom what film you may be trying to have us guess is the one you've chosen.
Cheers,
Dan.

Badly phrased clues perhaps - it was The Best Years of Our Lives.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bes...Our_Lives#Plot
Clue 1 - one of the characters Al Stephenson works as a loan officer at a bank. He is angered by the way in which the bank treats fellow veterans coming in for loans and wants to take a risk on people.
Clue 2 - Homer Parrish lost both hands when his ship was attacked. Is a scene where he is writing his name and some well meaning person wants to do it for him. And is the famous and heart-breaking scene where he shows his fiancee just how helpless he is (and by extention exactly what marrying him will mean).

Sergio,
It's still up to you to bring in another clue. Let's go, let's go.... I'm feeling lucky.
Cheers,
Dan.
