It doesn't Tuck! The thread is not restricted to any one genre.

(How Green was my Valley was one of my fav movies when I was a kid, probably for the bit were that **** of a teacher gets his comeuppance. And I didn't get it... I was on totally the wrong track. I actually thought your Movie might have been 55 Days in Peking, (about the Boxer rebeliion - geddit?)

I now officially hate you and Ralfy who is turning out to be far too clever for my liking.

Anyhoo... It's still with Ralfy's...

The Japanese captain likes Jack.

Nowhere in the hell does it say that, dude. I did not say that the discussion was limited to war movies. If you want to throw in a movie about a hard working Welsh family be my guest. What I am suggesting is that we limit it to one genre. Instead of a billion movies to choose from, how about only a million? I think branching out loses the focus of the thread. Once again a thread on a military history website forum dedicated to movies has been spun off into territory unrelated to the military.

P.S. I am not going to apologize for being a purist.

So have you made a similar request on the Disney thread, the last movie watched thread, the godfather thread, the Irish gangster movie thread or the multitudes of other threads on the DVD forum that don't limit themselves to war movies? And while you were at it did you write to the ACG staff to admonish them for failing to stipulate that the DVD forum should be just about war movies?

You know... There was nothing stopping you from starting a thread... "Name That WAR Movie", (there still isn't). But you didn't. I started this thread for a bit of fun because my interests extend beyond the war movie genre just like many of the other posters here.

Surely if the thread does not meet your needs the thing to do is ignore it and start one that does... NOT... to bring it upon yourself to try to change the remit of someone elses thread nor rant at posters who make good contributions that perfectly meet the criteria of the thread. You are the one that's out of step here amigo.

And above all... lighten up. It's just a bit of fun.

The call is still with Ralfy's Captain Jack.

I've had my say, now we move on.

Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence

Great clue moviebuff!!! Unfortunately Ibis got there before me, (swine). I suppose you know that the scene was cut from the original movie theatre release because of the bi-sexual metaphor. It is restored for the DVD version with Anthony Hopkins providing the voice for Olivier. (At least I think it's Hopkins). One of my all time favourite movies.

Anyway... It's still with Ibis.

Then name the movie I gave a clue for. If you're stumped, ask At ease. He'll know.

P.S. TA - I happen to have the laserdisc version of Spartacus which includes the famous scene. My students get a kick out of that scene considering what they can see every night on Family Guy.
