Ah, the joy of undercover reporters...
Lib Dems caught on tape criticising Coalition.
The Daily Telegraph actually held back the remarks about Sky (theory is that the comments would actually help Murdoch get full control of BSkyB, which they don't want). Someone at the Torygraph leaked the full info to the BBC...

I don't see how this is such a surprise. I would have assumed that there would have been severe differences behind the scenes of the coalition, but a positive public face. To think the two different parties would all of the sudden see eye to eye would be foolish.
The same would have been true if the coalition had been with labour instead. The lib dems don't rule by themselves and have to compromise. There is no surprise in the fact that sometimes compromise makes some people unhappy.
Now, the Murdoch thing is different. It is purely political.

I was listening to a radio talk in on this subject, the radio presenter was trying to get somebody who was offended by Cables remarks in an effort to give some 'balance' to the show...he failed.

More worrying is the motive behind the Telegraphs actions. Judging from the transcripts it seems they weren't actually going in looking for incriminating evidence on a specific issue, they appear to have been on a fishing trip and Mr Cable by dint of his own bravado gave them a fine story. Unfortunately for the Telegraph the story was one they couldn't run without damaging their own commercial interest (War on Murdoch) so they ran the "news" that not all Lib Dems are enamoured with the direction that the coalition government is taking.
Begs the question, how far removed is the Telegraph's fishing trip from bugging an MP's office in the hope of hearing something juicy?

Im disapointed in the Torygraph to be honest. More with the Coalition nuclear option to be honest. I mean we know he's a lefty, you dont need to prove it. Its just mischief making. The country doesnt need it. I expect this from the news of the screws but not them. Cable is an idiot for talking openly to constituents about something like this. Well another one did hire a Russian for research job. Guess naivete is contagious with the Lib Dems. I think being a minister went to his head.
