1985 Warsaw Pact OOB

I need the WP ground forces OOB for 1985. I need it to include Soviet, East German, and Polish units. I also need for it to include 2nd echelon or category 'B' divisions. Does anybody have a link or know of a book that would have this? Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a website on the Cold War; they might have some useful info:

http://www.isn.ethz.ch/php/

Here's the Soviet counter sheet from GDWs "THird World War" game; I know you can't tell by looking which counters are which country, but it might be helpful if it is cross-referrenced with other works.

Just did a google search for "Warsaw Pact OOB" and I came up with this (its for 1988):

http://orbat.com/site/history/histor...arsawpact.html

Looks like it is pretty complete. I can also give you the NATO 1988 OOB if you want.

Sure, that would be great. I'll just make the campaign for 1988 instead.

NOTE: The OOBs might be for 1989.

The Warsaw Pact OB for 1988 has to be heavily updated.

I know because
a) I specialize in the Soviet Army OB for 1918-1991.
b) I just picked up a Russian source book that's pretty detailed (although it does not provide what each unit's Category, you can pretty much guess there).

I am going to try and get the updated version up in about a month (at least for the Soviet Army side.)

Put it this way, "Military Balance", Isby's book and any other non-Russian source was pretty much wrong for the 1988's (although I haven't seen the SOVIET MILITARY POWER material, I am willing to bet its way off also.)

Are you going to post the updates? I would be very interested to see them.

Can you identify the book so I can look for it? Title, author, publishing info? I understand it is in Russian, that's OK, don't translate the title.

Thanks,

--- Kevin

Kbluck,

Its called:
Sovetskaya Armiya v gody "Kholodnoi Voiny" (1945-1991)
ISBN: 5-7511-1819-7

Eastview Publishing (www.eastview.vom) is selling it.

But.. be warned..with shipping it costs $125.00 for 244 pages.

Thanks!

Being a cheap bastard, I'll look around to see if its available anywhere for less. Not likely, but you never know. But if the information is detailed, it will be worth even the EastView price.

Soviet Army in the Cold War years in just 244 pages? It must be quite dense.

kbluck,

It's 8 x 11 with say 7-8 size font.

I think the Russian publishing house that sold it to Eastview is catching on that there is a US market, so he's milking it for all its worth.

There's still some gaps in it though.

Mini-Me, may I ask for what game you are researching that OOB? I myself am researching a 1985 TacOps-campaign, and have a few sources that you might be interested in.
