Thanks for the kind comments guys and I appreciate you welcoming me to the forum. And yes that fantassin happens to be me. I recently joined the 3eme Regiment de Ligne which is a reenactment unit in North America. I am still working on elements of my kit. For example, the fusil I am carrying in the photo is a shortland pattern brown bess that I need to replace with a Charleville An IX. Le 3eme is member of "Brigade Napoleon", a Napoleonic reenactment organization in North America. The Brigade consists of both French and coalition forces. Fascinating link to the brigade-napoleon, thank you. Long may these societies flourish and keep the Napoleonic era alive.

Think of a Uniform that is worn daily ?
Its headress is not made up to look good but has been won in Battle !
Its uniform is not merly made up for smartness it has served a purpose in war
The Soldiers that wear it are themselves a fighting elite and has fought all over the world for over 350 years forming as they go other fighting elites
The belts they wear are whitend and the brass work cleaned daily as from the 1700s
the boots worn are firstly burnt down when with bees wax when issued and then polished daily by hand for hours to the required mirror shine
their attention to detail with regard to orders of dress and the wearing of uniform is second to none
the wearing of the uniform is only part of it
you can have the smartest uniform in the world but if you dont wear it correctly or stand properly in it you look like a bag of S**T!!!!!
ask yourself which miliary formation has all of these points and you have your answer ???

I've always liked the patriotic look of the French Revolutionary Generals.
